A dependent child is what?
Those who move to Canada are welcome to bring their families with them and are encouraged to do so (spouse and children). However, if a sponsor's child or children are already citizens of another country, they may still be eligible to immigrate to Canada under the family class sponsorship programme as the sponsor's dependent child.
OTHER ELIGIBLE FAMILY MEMBERS
- A permanent resident who is a Canadian citizen may also sponsor further relatives, such as:
- Adoptive child
- A sibling, niece, nephew, granddaughter, or grandchild who is orphaned, under the age of 18, and who is not married or in a common-law relationship
- In unusual cases, more family members can be eligible.
